Untitled Document Kids and Dogs: two of my favorites…. no, really.
Assignment: 5 year old boy and his dog looking out the window - they are playmates. Big production.
Producer: Client loves kid A. Me: Great, does he have a dog?? P: Parents say he likes them... Me: Put on another kid.
P: We don’t have budget for that. Me: I don’t care, if we loose a 5 year old you don’t come back from that.
Shoot Day: Dog Talent is a 75 pound 1 year old - he’s trained but still a PUPPY. Very interested in the 30 people behind me.
Hero Kid A (white shirt below) is clearly afraid of the dog. I shoot 15-20 frames, stop and glance at my Producer.
Call for backup kid, who’s been playing with hero dog while we were setting up.
Backup Kid is great but dog is still distracted. Assistant lures dog with toy and a cat! (see first 3 images)
I love dogs and will use them at every chance I get. People can't help themselves but to react naturally. Plus I get to play with them between takes....
